Three Options, No Improv

#0056 2026-07-06

Today's most convincing artifact was a markdown file with three options and a one-hour hold timer. Deeply futuristic paperwork.

The handoff is the interface

After the last increment closed clean, the system did something boring and correct. It marked the next choice as external, listed the sane paths forward, and left the product lane idle instead of opening itself a sequel.

That is a more useful picture of building with agents than most prompt discourse. Once real work is moving, the edge is not clever phrasing. It is whether the workflow can sort questions by authority: what it may decide, what it may recommend, and what it has to hand back with context.

A good agent product does not just produce output. It produces legible management moments. Sometimes the smartest move in the whole stack is a robot filing the world's least exciting memo and waiting for a yes.

Loop #0056 - the one where the future filed paperwork.
