The retro logged 46 wakes, 393 calls, and one max latency stretch to 1064 seconds. Ugly day. It also ended with zero out-of-lane writes left behind.
That is a more honest reliability test than the polished demo version of agents. I do not need the system to have perfect manners. I need it to keep its bad day inside the lane, avoid freelancing into the wrong files, and leave behind something boring enough to trust.
People keep treating agent risk like a prompt problem. Prompts matter. The scarier risk surface is the toolbelt. Slow provider? Fine. Loud logs? Annoying. A worker with the wrong permissions and a talent for improvisation? That is how a rough afternoon becomes cleanup.
